Our Staying Well Cancer Support Service has won the Most Impactful Innovation – VCSE award at the West Yorkshire Cancer Alliance ‘Innovation through Collaboration’ Conference held at Elland Road on Tuesday 2nd June 2026.
The award recognises the innovative and collaborative approach behind Staying Well, which supports people living with and beyond cancer across Calderdale through personalised, community-based support.
Delivered in partnership by Staying Well Calderdale, North Halifax Partnership, Halifax Opportunities Trust, and Hebden Bridge Community Association, and working alongside Macmillan Cancer Support and the West Yorkshire Cancer Alliance, the service puts people at the centre of care and support.
Judges highlighted the strong partnership working across the voluntary, community and health sectors, and the positive impact this collaboration has in improving wellbeing outcomes for local people.
Rachel Orton, Community Programmes Manager at North Halifax Partnership, said:
“Winning this award is a credit to the Staying Well team across Calderdale and we are so happy to have our hard work recognised. Innovation and collaboration are at the heart of the Staying Well approach.
The partnership between North Halifax Partnership, Halifax Opportunities Trust and Hebden Bridge Community Association brings innovative ideas to the way we shape and deliver much-needed health and wellbeing support across Calderdale by sharing our diverse experience and expertise.
Working with Macmillan and West Yorkshire Cancer Alliance to develop personalised cancer care support has been an exciting challenge and would not have been possible without the strong relationships we hold across the health and community sectors.”
Since launch, the service has supported people affected by cancer to access emotional support, community activities and practical guidance, helping reduce isolation and improve wellbeing.
This award win highlights the impact of collaboration in delivering innovative, person-centred support across Calderdale.
