History

The Partnership was formed in November 1998 to manage a programme aimed at social and economic regeneration in the area. The programme focused on education and employment projects such as North Halifax Skills Centre.

In 2002 we were approved for a Sure Start programme in North Halifax; one of only a few Sure Start programmes in the country managed by a voluntary organisation. In 2014 the Partnership was successful in bidding to manage the contract for Children’s Centres in North and East Halifax and the Lower Calder Valley.

The Government awarded us a Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder Programme for the Ovenden area in 2004 and this was expanded to include Mixenden in 2006. Since 2009 the Ovenden and Mixenden Initiative has provided engagement and community development services for the Council across the wards of Illingworth and Mixenden, Ovenden, Warley and Northowram and Shelf as the North and East Halifax Neighbourhood Team.

The Staying Well project is aimed at reducing social isolation and loneliness in older people and was originally piloted in Park, Elland, Hebden Bridge and North Halifax. In 2014 we were contracted to manage the project in North Halifax and later in Elland. Following the success of the pilot the project has been rolled out across Calderdale for adults from 18 years. North Halifax Partnership is contracted to manage the project across North and East Halifax and the Lower Calder Valley.

The Partnership registered as a Charity in 2016 and remains committed to its core objectives outlined in its memorandum and articles of association.
