Ramadan 2025

Ramadan is the 9th month in the Islamic lunar calendar when Muslims all around the world perform strict fasting for approximately 30 days. This year, Ramadan is due to begin on the evening of 28th Feb or 1st March 2025 (this is dependent on the sighting of the crescent moon). It is also the month in which the Holy Quran was revealed to the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him – ï·º). Fasting consists of not consuming any food or drink during daylight hours with time spent praying and reading the Quran. A meal is consumed before sunrise (known as Suhoor) and the fast is broken by an evening meal after sunset (known as Iftar). Following the month of Ramadan, this is when Muslims celebrate Eid ul-Fitr (festival of the breaking of the fast).

Some of the religious acts performed in this holy month are:

  • Prioritising opportunities to pray, show gratitude and ask for forgiveness for past sins
  • Expanding one’s knowledge on Islam.
  • Perform the 5 mandatory daily prayers.
  • Reduce or remove any distractions from everyday life to focus on reaping the benefits of this holy month.
  • Give more money to charity known as Sadaqah & Zakat
