Innovations Nursery

Innovations Nursery is based in the grounds of Dean Field Community Primary School in Ovenden. The centre is easily accessible from Cousin Lane and has good transport links with a regular bus service to and from Halifax.

We believe that each child should be given an opportunity for the best start in life and families are supported on any life changing journeys they take. We strive to make family life a positive and enjoyable experience.

The team at Innovations have a good understanding of services available in the North and East Halifax area and are able to confidently signpost to services and support families to do this.

Families, carers and visitors who use the centre are regularly consulted about services on offer at the centre and are involved in decisions to take the centre forward and develop it for the future.

Why not come and see us and meet the team? You are welcome to just drop by or phone and make an appointment. We look forward to seeing you.

What is the Famly App?

Our nurseries use an app called Famly which can be accessed on mobiles or online. We use this to stay in touch and to keep you updated on your child’s development whist at our settings.

You will have your own individual account which allows your personal feed to receive photographs, videos, messages and updates in real time. Parents can grant access to other family member like grandparents, to view their child’s learning journey on the app.

Each child will have an individual Learning Journey here and we will share observations of your child’s learning and development and link it to the Early Years Foundation Stage. This will help you understand the progress your child is making.

The app is a fully encrypted GDPR – compliant and digital platform therefore all data stored on the app is protected and secure.

Our healthy menus are planned following guidance from The Food for Life Award.

Baby Room

Our baby room caters for 12 babies between the ages of 0-18 months, cared for by a team of qualified staff members working on a 1 to 3 ratio.

This self contained room enables babies to play, eat and have their individual needs met in a safe and secure environment.

The baby room faces out onto our large outdoor play area and babies have regular access to outdoor play throughout the day.

The baby room staff team provides a warm welcome to all families. They support and work with families to help the babies reach their full potential. Each family is supported by their key person and families are invited to key person feedback sessions on a regular basis to ensure they are involved in their baby’s development and learning.

Throughout the day our babies will be offered a range of stimulating activities that help them to develop and thrive.

Toddler Room

Our toddler room accommodates 18 children aged 18 month to up to 3 years old. They are cared for by a team of qualified staff members working on a 1 to 4 ratio.

This busy room enables toddlers to have the opportunity to take part in creative, imaginative, physical, mental and quiet activities to develop their skills.

Toddlers focus on developing children’s self care skills such as toilet training, speech and language development and personal, social and emotional development.

Toddlers enjoy free access to our large outdoor play area and these busy children take full advantage of its many opportunities.

Preschool

Our large preschool room caters for 28 children between the ages of 2 ½ to 5 years, cared for by a team of qualified staff members working on a 1 to 8 ratio.

The team within this room helps develop children’s life skills and prepares them for their journey into school. Preschool staff work with children and their families to support them with the transition into school from start to finish.

Preschool children are encouraged to develop their independence skills and make choices for themselves throughout the day. Children are actively supported to develop their self care skills. For example self service at meal times and tooth brushing daily.

The children are encouraged to access all areas of the preschool room which is set out in areas to develop creative, IT, imaginative, mathematical and physical skills. Preschool children have free access to the outdoor area throughout the day and enjoy facing the challenges and learning new things that this area brings.
