How have we captured stories?

We believe that every story matters, and by capturing the narratives of our community, we gain invaluable insights into the experiences that shape our lives. Our dedicated efforts to gather these stories have not only fostered a deeper understanding of our community’s diverse perspectives but have also inspired connections among residents.

Find out what areas we’ve explored in our journey throughout our Community Walkabout.

Ash Green Poetry Competition

During the last term of school at Ash Green Primary,  some pupils took part in a poetry competition as part of the Reimagining Communities 2.0 community engagement.

Pupils were asked to write a poem about North Halifax, and these were some of the best with 3 pupils winning family vouchers to the Airtime Trampoline Park in Ovenden!

Lee Mount Art Group

#1 – The importance of having accessible community provisions and buildings for people to access, to encourage them to move more and be active.
#2 – Snapshots of the beautiful landscapes of Shroggs Park and appreciating this as a strength of the local community.
#3 – This piece of art displays wider than North Halifax, showing the value of local infrastructure, tourism attractions and green spaces in Calderdale.
#4 – A clear diversion between the good and the bad. Hand drawn pictures of local issues to a local resident showing speeding, quad bikes and the current racing culture in Halifax negatively impacting them. This changes to them showing the appreciation and value they have to wildlife, animals and the benefits this brings to wellbeing can be clearly seen through amazing drawings by one of the members.
#5 – Back to back pictures of the positives of Shroggs Park

Noah’s Ark Engagement

Following some direct engagement with residents accessing the support offered by Noah’s Ark in Ovenden, here are what they said in accordance to the 3 Reimagining Communities 2.0 questions.

Below are pictures from the 6 winners for each year group! As their prize they all won a Family Voucher for the Airtime Trampoline Park! Well done!
