Courses and Activities are available to families living in North and Central Halifax, Upper and Lower Calder Valley, and Calder & Ryburn communities.
The courses we provide are fully inclusive and open to all parents and carers, whether you are at home caring for a child, a working parent or on maternity/paternity leave. We are also keen to encourage more dads and male carers to join in too.
We provide a wide range of activities offering health, wellbeing and nurturing courses to meet our priorities of school readiness, child and family health, improving parent aspirations.

Once your have booked onto a course using a booking form, if you have been allocated a place you will receive a confirmation email and text approximately 10 days to 2 weeks before the course is due to start. Places are not given on a first come first served basis, we have an allocation procedure in place.

A 4-week family learning course for children aged 6 months to preschool. The sessions focus on fostering creativity through a variety of colourful art, sensory, and creative activities. Children will be encouraged to explore, experiment, and express themselves, building confidence and self-esteem. Parents are encouraged to continue the learning at home.

A 4-week action-packed course for both adults and children to have an amazing time singing, play games and using colourful props and toys to get that imagination going on some amazing adventures. (Suitable from walking).

We run free Baby and Me and Baby Massage courses to encourage bonding between parents and babies.
A 4-week Baby Massage course that fosters bonding between parents and babies while promoting relaxation. It may also help with colic, teething pain, and sleep issues. (Suitable for babies 6 weeks to 6 months)

A 4-week course teaching gentle hand and foot techniques to support your baby’s health and well-being, as well as your own. Learn how reflexology can aid your child’s development from infancy onwards. (Suitable for babies aged 6 weeks to 6 months).

This course covers early years education, child development, safeguarding, inclusion, and healthy lifestyles. Delivered in a supportive environment, it equips learners with the knowledge and awareness to work with children or progress to further early years qualifications. (Adults only).
Eligibility: Must be earning under £25,000 or receiving benefits (proof required).

An 8-week course designed to help you see the world through your child’s eyes, better understand their emotions, and gain practical and emotional tools to support them. (Adults only).

A fun-filled session starting with music and movement, followed by a variety of messy and sensory play trays to explore. Suitable for babies from 3 months to preschool age.

A fun and unique 4-week course designed to support postnatal health and wellbeing. Focuses on strengthening and toning, especially the abdominals, glutes, and pelvic floor. Babies can join from 6 weeks (after their check-up); mums can take part from 8–10 weeks post C-section.

A 2-week First Aid course to help you develop basic knowledge and skills to deal with minor accidents and health emergencies at home. Children welcome to attend with parents.

A 4-week creative session developing imaginative play taking children on a journey involving movement, role play, improvisation, and song. (Suitable for 18 months to 3 years).

A course for parents, carers, and family members who want to deepen their understanding of autism and explore best practice across the sector. (Adults only).
Eligibility: Must be earning under £25,000 or receiving benefits (proof required).

Attendees will learn how to prepare and handle food safely, reduce risks during food preparation, and keep food safe from contamination. This is an accredited course, and all learners will receive a certificate upon completion.

Children will explore basic movements through play, helping to develop both their physical and cognitive skills. They’ll also have the opportunity to express themselves through movement and music. Suitable for children from walking age to preschool.

Cooking on a budget involves several strategies to save money while you still enjoy delicious meals.

Learn how to recognise the signs of cardiac arrest, when and how to perform CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and how to safely use a defibrillator for both babies and children. The course also covers what to do if a baby or child is choking, along with practical guidance on preventing choking hazards.

Little Movers supports healthy growth and development by helping children build social and fundamental skills through fun, engaging activities. Suitable for children from walking age to preschool.
