The Beechwood Big Picnic is back on Saturday 7 September, 12 noon – 4pm with a ton of FREE activities to keep everyone entertained.
Sure Start North Halifax Partnership have their own tent jam packed with activities including arts and craft, face painting, children’s entertainers, glitter tattoos, hair spray and NHP Sure Start Forest School will take you and your little ones on a Bear Hunt adventure.
Bring your bucket and spade and play on our very own Beechwood Beach, or settle down on a deckchair to watch the seaside favourite Punch and Judy with an ice cream or candy floss from one of our many food stalls.
Soak up the good vibes in the Wellbeing Tent for a yoga or tai chi lesson, or enjoy a chat and a brew at our Madhatters’ Staying Well Tea Party. There’s nothing like a day in the park to increase your wellbeing.
Explore what Active North Halifax has to offer with a variety of local sports clubs providing taster sessions in rugby, football, cricket and mountain biking. Younger children can try balance bikes on the Bikeability wooden track. Older children (and grown-ups) can brave the Beechwood climbing wall!
Our Beechwood Fun Run starts at 3pm. The course is only 1km long and you don’t have to run – you can walk it, crawl it or be pushed in a wheelchair or pram! And there will be people at the back making sure NO ONE IS LEFT BEHIND – no matter how slow you go.
The marvelous Beechwood Dog Show starts at 1pm and there are several categories to show off your perfect pooch including ‘Eyes That Melt Your Heart’, ‘Scruffiest and Tidiest Dog’, ‘ Young Handler’ and ‘Waggiest Tail’. It’s up to you if you pick a category or go for all four. Show off your fur baby off and see if you can take home a prize.
