Frequently Asked Questions
Who can borrow an e-bike?
Anyone 18+ who lives or works in North Halifax and can store the bike securely.
Do I need to be an experienced cyclist?
No. If you can ride a normal bike, you’ll be fine. We include a short induction at collection.
How long can I borrow a bike for?
Loan periods vary — we’ll confirm when you apply.
Where can I ride the bikes?
Our bikes are designed for roads, towpaths, cycle tracks and light gravel.
They’re not for mountain bike trails or deep water crossings (this can damage motors).
What if I don’t know which bike to choose?
No problem — select “Not sure” on the form and we’ll help match you.
Do I need to wear a helmet?
We recommend using a helmet and high-visibility clothing for safety.
How do I look after the bike?
Before riding, please check:
- Brakes work
- Gears shift smoothly
- Lights turn on
- Tyres are inflated
We’ll show you how during the induction.
What if something goes wrong on a ride?
You’re responsible for basic roadside fixes (punctures, chain drops, etc.). Please notify us via email or WhatsApp (listed in the email) of any problems as soon as possible.
If you can’t continue, arrange your own transport.
How should I store the bike?
Bikes must be stored indoors or in a locked garage/shed.
Outdoor storage isn’t allowed.
What if the bike is stolen or damaged?
Let us know immediately. Theft should also be reported to the police.
Do the bikes have trackers?
Some e-bikes may have GPS tracking for security and monitoring purposes. Data is not shared externally.
Do I need to sign anything?
Yes — you’ll agree to our Terms & Conditions before collecting the bike.
