Fundraising for Teenage Cancer Ward Leeds

Lisa T, one of our Parent Link Workers, is raising money for the Teenage Cancer Ward in Leeds. Lisa sadly lost her vibrant, funny, clever, stubborn daughter Casey in 2022, age 21.

Casey was a dedicated Uni student who loved being outdoors, always seeking some thrills – maybe jumping off a waterfall or some rock climbing. Casey wanted to become a teacher and continued her studies throughout the early stages of her diagnosis, as well as supporting others through similar situations.

Casey was diagnosed with a sarcoma in her leg in 2018 and spent a lot of time in the Leeds Teenage Cancer Ward, enjoying their pizza night and arts and crafts, in between intense rounds of chemo and radiotherapy.

‘Amazing Casey’ was her nickname after she had her leg amputated, as she overcame her barriers with humor and support from her family and friends.

Lisa and her family are wanting to help support others who are in a similar situation by fundraising for a ‘Hot Chocolate Station’ and Christmas Crafts on the ward. The ‘Hot Chocolate Station’ will also have a selection of other drinks and biscuits for those on the ward that might not manage the sweeter treats.

Lisa hopes that these things will bring a little bit of joy to the patients and families on the cancer ward and leave a little bit of ‘Amazing Casey’s’ legacy. If you would like to donate some money to Lisa for this amazing cause please pop into Kevin Pearce Children’s centre when Lisa has a collection bucket.
