Mixenden Initiative witches Karen and Vicky were joined by Jill Barker from Mixenden Activity Centre and the girls of Project_Twelve:31 on the steps of Mixenden Library for the 4th Ash Green School Lantern Parade.

More people than ever joined the Ash Green School lantern parade this year following lantern making sessions from NHP Sure Start Children’s Centres and Family Support teams and extra Project Twelve:31 sessions at The Addy and Mixenden Activity Centre.

Children and families were treated to a spooky storytelling outside the library from the Three Witches of Mixenden, the Project Twelve:31 Zombie Girl’s Group and Donald Trump’s hairy rotten toe!

Ensuring a safe and successful parade were Ash Green school staff and teachers, Calderdale Council’s Community Wardens, local Police Officers from West Yorkshire Police and Project_Twelve:31 volunteers.

Special thanks to Jill Barker and Mixenden Activity Centre for the loan of the light-up bikes, the boys activity sessions and the Witches fabulous hair pieces, and to Mixenden Libary for allowing us to use the Library space for getting ready and decorating.
